The Governor of the Dosso region, Colonel-Major Bana Alhassane, conducted a significant field visit on Thursday, July 9th, to assess development impact within the region. The primary objective of the visit was to assess the achievements of the non-governmental organization World Vision. The visit focused specifically on the localities of Goberi Goubey and Donoudibi, both situated within the Boboye department. Colonel-Major Alhassane was accompanied by a full delegation, which included members of the Defense and Security Forces, key World Vision officials, the esteemed Chief of the Boboye canton, and various regional and departmental administrative authorities. This diverse composition showed the importance and collaborative nature of the assessment.
Health and Water Infrastructure Enhancements
At the Goberi Goubey health post, World Vision has implemented a series of key infrastructure projects, collectively valued at over 40 million FCFA. These significant developments include the installation of an autonomous solar-powered water station, ensuring a reliable and sustainable water supply. Additionally, separate latrine blocks have been constructed for men and women, promoting privacy and hygiene. A strong water tank has been installed, complementing the water station, and the health post itself has benefited from permanent electrification, enhancing its operational capabilities. The facilities also feature a dedicated incinerator for waste management and a handwashing station, contributing significantly to improved hygiene and sanitation practices within the community. Mr. Ibrahim Moussa, the Chief of the Fabirgui CSI, provided a detailed presentation on the results achieved, the challenges encountered, and the future expectations related to the health post's operations. Mr. Moussa also noted the ongoing and ambitious effort to transform the Goberi Goubey health post into a full-fledged Integrated Health Center (CSI), which would expand its services and reach. In the locality of Donoudibi, vital water infrastructure established by World Vision serves an estimated population of 1,360 inhabitants, showing the organization’s commitment to addressing fundamental needs. This infrastructure in Donoudibi plays a critical role in providing essential access to clean drinking water for the local community.
Educational Support and Broader Reach
The delegation's itinerary in Donoudibi included a tour of a classroom currently under construction, which is notably 80% complete, demonstrating tangible progress in educational infrastructure. World Vision has extended substantial support to 12 schools throughout the Boboye department by contributing significantly to their essential infrastructure. This extensive support includes nine classrooms presently under construction across the localities of Boboye and Falmey, further extending the organization's development efforts and commitment to improving educational environments in the region. These new classrooms are set to provide better learning conditions for numerous students.
Official Engagement and Impact Assessment
The visit to Goberi Goubey and Donoudibi was specifically designed to assess the tangible achievements of the NGO World Vision in these key localities, both of which are situated within the Boboye Department. During their assessment in Donoudibi, the delegation observed a fully functional borehole. This vital water source is equipped with a powerful 40 m³ pump, ensuring efficient water extraction and distribution. The installation also featured a strong 4000 W solar field, providing sustainable energy for the pump's operation, and four strategically placed drinking water distribution points, offering convenient access to clean water for the community. These observations provided clear evidence of the positive impact of World Vision's interventions. Following the full assessments of these various development projects, Governor Colonel-Major Bana Alhassane and his delegation concluded their official duties by paying a courtesy visit. They met with the honorable chief of the Birni N’Gaouré canton, Lamido Ousseini Soumana Ousseini, as an important part of their official engagement and to foster continued collaboration in the region. This meeting served to reinforce local partnerships and acknowledge traditional leadership in the ongoing development efforts.
