Customs officials in Niger launched the third phase of the Tsaron Kassa 2026 operation to intensify anti-smuggling efforts across the Zinder region. Personnel from the Brigade d’intervention et de recherche (BIR) executed the initiative to secure trade routes and intercept illicit goods moving through the Damagaram area. Ahmoudou Mohamed and Massalatchi Mahaman Sani coordinated the deployment of enforcement teams to monitor checkpoints and transit corridors. Operation Tsaron Kassa 2026 aims to disrupt supply chains used by unauthorized distributors by increasing the presence of border security units. Authorities initiated these intensified inspections on 13 October to regulate commercial traffic throughout the territory. The ongoing mission represents the latest stage of the national strategy to enforce customs compliance and prevent the entry of prohibited items into the country.

Fuel and Cigarette Seizures

Customs patrols operating within the Zinder region documented significant inventory recoveries during the period between May 2026 and mid-October 2026. Officers confiscated over 82,000 liters of fuel during these enforcement activities along established transit corridors.

Authorities simultaneously expanded their focus on prohibited tobacco products moving through the territory. Customs teams intercepted more than 3.7 million sticks of cigarettes as part of the ongoing anti-smuggling efforts. These seizures reflect the volume of illicit goods identified by security personnel during the extended monitoring period. Enforcement units continue to inspect commercial vehicles for unauthorized cargo to maintain compliance with established national trade regulations.

Explosives and Contraband Goods

Customs officers expanded their interdiction efforts to include the seizure of 625 electrical wires and 984 sticks of dynamite discovered within the Zinder region. These explosive materials were identified by personnel during inspections of transit corridors as part of the broader Tsaron Kassa 2026 operation.

Agents also confiscated 311 bricks of Indian hemp alongside various shisha products. In the same enforcement sweep, customs teams secured 84 lots of non-homologated pharmaceutical products that failed to meet the required safety standards for entry into the territory. Officials stated that these items posed a risk to public safety and were removed from circulation to comply with national trade regulations.

Transport infrastructure used for illicit activities faced significant disruption during the operation. Customs units seized 24 vehicles and 58 motorcycles that were found to be involved in the smuggling of the prohibited goods. These assets remain in state custody as part of the ongoing mission to dismantle supply chains operating through the Damagaram area. Enforcement teams under the direction of Ahmoudou Mohamed and Massalatchi Mahaman Sani continue to monitor transit corridors to prevent further movement of illegal cargo.
